Easy entry to digital printing

• Mark Andy, a leading manufacturer of printing and finishing equipment, has used standard self-adhesive materials from HERMA at several industry events.

• These events showcased the hybrid press Digital One which is designed especially for micro to short-run prime labels.

• Combined with self-adhesive materials from HERMA, the Digital One allows users to easily implement digital printing – at a very low investment level.

In addition to conventional printing technology, digital printing has increasingly established itself as a cost-effective alternative during the last years – especially for short runs in label printing. Printing equipment manufacturer Mark Andy enables users to easily implement digital printing. The company’s hybrid press Digital One was recently showcased at an in-house exhibition in the UK and at the Open House of its Dutch sales agent Packtion. Both demonstrations used the label paper HERMAextracoat (grade 242), a standard self-adhesive material from HERMA. “The Digital One offers users the best of two worlds – digital and flexo printing – for the production of short run labels. It thereby frees up capacity on high output presses and brings greater efficiency to fast turnaround work. And our “pay as you go” leasing approach lowers the hurdles for those entering the world of digital printing”, explains Lukasz Kaczynski, Demo Room Manager at Mark Andy. “Another important factor is suitable self-adhesive material that produces good results in digital printing. With HERMAextracoat (grade 242), we have found an excellent solution.”

Focus on digital printing

HERMA is continuously extending its range of self-adhesive materials for the growing digital printing market segment, having recently added a new polypropylene film amongst other things. However, established standard self-adhesive materials have also proven suitable for digital printing, such as the HERMAextracoat (grade 242) label paper used by Mark Andy. Its standard coating is the 62D adhesive which is suited for universal use. “Our materials ensure smooth processing in digital printing – backed by the product and service quality standards for which HERMA has long since established a strong reputation in the conventional printing community”, says John Hill, Technical Manager at HERMA.
